As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Enough Rope, I've struggled to find many truly Australian television shows that I think are worth watching. The show I introduced you to yesterday is one of my favourites, but it can be a bit heavy sometimes. For a good laugh, the Handsome Australian and I like to watch rove. Rove is a prime time talk show/entertainment format not too dissimilar from the Tonight Show or The Late Show in the USA. Rove is hosted by thirty something comedian, Rove McManus and features regular spots by many of his comedic friends as well as interviews with international celebrities and music from popular bands. Unlike similar shows in the USA, Rove is not on each week night. In fact, he's only on once a week--on a Sunday night.
Recent highlights from the show include regular guest spots by Australian radio personalities and comedy team, Hamish & Andy. If you ask me, Hamish and Andy are the funniest comedians in Australia at the moment. Here's a clip of their recent work on rove:
They're funny right?
The other thing I like about Rove's show is that it's so relaxed--another very Australian trait. The big celebs that come on the show don't seem to be putting it all on and he's not afraid to ask goofy questions. Here's an interview he did with Matt Damon last year.
So that's what we're watching...how about you?

Oh my goodness ... I haven't laughed that much in a while! What a hilarious thing to do ... Speed Ghosting ... TOO FUNNY! Anyway, it is such a pleasure to read your blog ... I'm taking tonight to get caught up on your story. It is quite facinating! I've linked to you tonight ... please let me know if you'd rather I not. My cousin, Matthew lives in France currently and lived in England before that and I love his blog. He keeps me informed on all the goings on in that part of the world and you are keeping me informed on the goings on in your part of the world. Thank you!
misscaron--Thanks for stopping by! I'm so glad someone else appreciates Hamish and Andy. I honestly think they are the best comedic talent on offer in Australia at the moment. They never fail to make me laugh and people who know me will tell you that's no easy task! I'm a hard nut to crack. Thanks for the link I'm cool with it! Happy reading.
